The project entitled
“Europe in Croatia” is intended to inform and educate Croatian citizens
in the field of European integration at state, regional and local levels
through the opening of Euro Info points. A Euro Info point consists of
an Internet kiosk and info shelf containing promotional materials
(sometimes it comprises only a kiosk or a shelf) exposed in city
libraries in county centres and in certain other larger Croatian towns,
as well as in faculties or other higher education institutions. The aims
of the project are as follows:
Informing citizens
about the European Union and the activities of the Government of
Croatia designed to achieve full membership of the EU
Better public insight
into the activities of the Government of Croatia regarding the
Croatian accession process
Better communication
with citizens within the framework of European integration issues
Easier access to
information and promotion of the Internet as a general communication
medium
In the course of
implementation of the project so far, a strong and high-quality
information infrastructure has been established (105 Euro Info points)
and made available for Croatian citizens at any time with a view to
providing comprehensive and accurate information about Croatia’s journey
towards full membership of the EU. This kind of approach fully complies
with the general stand taken by the Croatian Government, according to
which Croatian citizens are treated as equal partners in the complex EU
accession process, and as such are entitled to accurate and objective
information about the very course of the process.
We wish to thank CARnet and HT for their assistance in the execution of
this project.
